Literacy Difficulties (Dyslexia) Pathway

Our literacy difficulties assessment pathway allows us to work in partnership with schools, students and their family to gather evidence of persistent literacy difficulties. We offer a holistic approach to identify the student’s strengths and barriers to acquiring literacy skills by systematically reviewing quality first teaching and developing personalised intervention plans as well as delivering assessment tasks. Click here to see a flow chart of the pathway process.

To inform identification of dyslexia our work will also involve: observation of the pupil, discussions/use of questionnaires to gather information from the student, the school/setting and the student’s family, direct working work with the student to complete assessment for learning work including standardised assessment measures, a review of progress and attainment data and a review of strategies used to date.

Following all of this a detailed report will be provided which shares our findings. This pathway approach provides evidence of pupil response to intervention and difficulties experienced over time. In line with the SEND Code of Practice, our graduated response to assessment will ensure that the right support is given at the right time and if and if appropriate we will identify and document dyslexia.

A detailed report that shares our findings and includes recommendations to support the pupil’s future progress through direct intervention and removal of barriers to learning, will be provided

Unfortunately we are unable to accept individual requests for identification from parents and carers.
